3rd Quarter Focus Areas
For third quarter we will be learning about some of the most colorful artists in the world. We will learn how Van Gogh used color to create the swirling Starry Night, how Matisse used colorful patterns to fill the rooms in his paintings and how Keith Haring and Joan Miro used primary colors and simplified shapes to make their masterpieces!
For second Quarter we are learning about Digital Art! We are learning how to paint digitally and all the benefits that working with this medium brings us. We will also learn how to editing photos using Photoshop.
Fifth grade has been hard at work in their sketchbooks, during Portrait power we are learning to draw the face using correct proportions. Students have been challenged to draw light and learn to draw the various parts of the face.
During our first rotation, Fifth Grade will be creating abstract designs using our names. Students will hide their names by rearranging the scale and placement of the letters. Then students will use shape and line to further hide their names. Finally students will add color with oil pastel to add dimension and vibrancy.
